It’s finally starting to get warm here in the Pacific Northwest, which means more time to curl up in the sun and read some books. In fact, I am aching for new worlds to dive into and escape this newest form of life where everyone’s always home. Always…
Over the past six months I’ve been head down in a book edit, and each time I pick up something to read, there’s a particular trend happening: general fiction stories disguised as fantasy because they have one small fantastical element. As a reader, my tastes lean pretty hard into second world fantasy and science fiction, so the elements that usually keep me hooked have been missing from my to-be-read pile.
