To celebrate 13 weeks of winter, Hàlön Chronicles will be conducting one interview a week for 13 weeks. We’ve also partnered with additional artists and authors for a few surprises throughout the winter. Join us on the hashtag #13Winterviews, or check out our blog hop for a sneak peek at who’s on the roster in the coming weeks.

Hosted by: K. J. Harrowick

1. First off, tell us a little bit about who you are and what type of books you write/review.

Hey! I’m Hilary. I’m a music therapist and small business owner by day, book reviewer and RPG enthusiast by night. I am addicted to coffee, I’m learning the trumpet, and I can rap the entirety of Baby Got Back (not that anyone ever wants to hear me rap).

I read and review a bit of everything, though I tend to lean towards fantasy or thrillers these days. It generally just comes down to what catches my attention.

Though I don’t write in the sense of the others participating in this series, I do write RPG. For that, I like writing about the way people screw each other up.

2. What projects are you working on these days?

I recently decided to change up some of the content on my blog, and am still working on that transition into newer and more original material. It’s been an ongoing project, as I try to fit it around my work.

3. Do you have any strong social or political statements your work aims to represent?

Not really. I generally stay away from politics (plus, Canadian politics are generally more chill than other places, and I don’t tackle topics I don’t know much about, such as international politics). Most of the social commentary I tackle is based in social psychology, rather than statements.

4. Who is your favourite dragon?

Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. I don’t care if he’s a cartoon. He’s awesome.

5. What is your favourite spaceship?

I’ve always been particularly fond of the USS Voyager from Star Trek: Voyager.

6. Favourite wind-down-after-a-hard-day beverage?

Of the alcoholic variety: Harp Lager, Stella Artois, or Pinot Grigio.
Of the non-alcohol variety: Vanilla lattes (decaf, ‘cause sleep is fun), Tim Horton’s French Vanillas, or Candy Cane Hot Chocolate.

Hilary’s the first in our lineup this year, but don’t forget to check back on more Winterviews and partner interviews.
